Tempered glass or toughened glasses are a type of security or safety glass processed using thermal properties to increase its strength compared to normal annealed glass. Tempering process makes glasses normally 3 to 5 times stronger than the normal glasses. Outer surfaces get compressed and interior layer come in to tension which makes glasses to crumble when brakes. when there is a breakage the glasses gets to small granular formation and these are not as harmful as normal glass when it breaks.
Due to the safety and strength of tempered glasses it it used widely in many places.
